Talent Exchange Program Promotes Cooperation Between Luvata Locations

Luvata talent exchange program fosters cooperation within Luvata’s global working environment, with units across six countries on four continents. In addition, it offers unforgettable experiences and valuable growth opportunities for employees.

Talent exchanges offer opportunities beyond work. Here Eric from the USA is watching a Finnish hockey league game with his Finnish colleagues in Pori.

Luvata Talent Exchange is a program where two Luvata units mutually agree on a short-term personnel exchange within a function. It is a way to exchange knowledge and create common understanding in a global company that Luvata is. Typical duration for a talent exchange is from a few weeks to a few months.

“The key purpose of the talent exchange program is to share knowledge and strengthen the cooperation between our units. And of course, as an employer, Luvata wants to provide growth opportunities for its employees and this is one way to do so,” says Mikko Juusela, Luvata Group’s Senior Vice President, People & Leadership.

Unlocking New Perspectives

Recently, our units have had talent exchanges within the finance, IT, and production functions. The employees who have spent few or more weeks in another unit have been extremely excited about their experiences and learned a lot.

Generally, I see the financial outcomes at higher level but now I was able to dive into underlying details, which I found extremely beneficial. It feels that now I have better ability to analyze financial numbers and understand causal links between finance and other areas, like manufacturing and products,” says Matias, Group Financial Controller, who did the exchange at Luvata Delaware.

I learned a lot by simply talking with colleagues. For example, I got to talk with extrusion engineers, which I wouldn’t have been able to do in Waterbury,” describes Jake, Process Engineer from Luvata Waterbury, who did the exchange at Luvata Pori.

One common factor in their learning has been the broadening of perspective. Visiting another unit helps to understand the big picture – how Luvata units work together to achieve the vision state of being the leading provider of copper solutions for the benefit of People, Society, and the Earth.

Working in Pori makes it easy to think about things only in terms of the Pori office and not of the whole group. When you visit other locations, the field of view expands,” explains Leevi, Group IT Specialist, who did the exchange at Luvata Appleton.

Luvata is a global community of talented people sharing similar challenges and victories. We can leverage this community to develop one another as professionals, to support initiatives in each business unit, and to continuously improve on the relationships between these business units,” says Taylor, IT Specialist from Luvata Appleton, who did the exchange at Luvata Pori.

The Luvata Management Team is dedicated to cross-training and to providing growth opportunities. If asked, I would participate in the program again. I think it is important to get some different perspectives and view things with fresh eyes,” comments Eric, Formed Products Business Unit Controller from Luvata Delaware, who did the exchange at Luvata Pori.
